The Finnish Giant Nokia, after almost spending a year or so in shadows has come to the limelight.

Report suggests within this period Nokia has invested in the development of GSM, UMTS/3G WCDMA and WLAN order of 40 billion euros. Not only this, Nokia might have just started the price war again cutting prices of its phones upto 10% according to the latest reports.

Nokia generally reduces prices across its range a few times a year as it introduces new models and adjusts to changes in demand, but this was particularly stringent. The company said that the slashes in prices are part of its normal business and that they usually do it a couple times per year.

“This latest round of price adjustments sees Nokia taking its low-cost Symbian devices into new territory,” said Ben Wood, CCS Insight Research Director, in an interview.

While there is incessant buzz that the Google Nexus Phone is coming on T-Mobile’s mobile network in the UK, the search engine giant seems poised to pick out AT&T for the launch of the 3G version of the device in the US, it has been emerged.

Google is apparently drawing away from its initial marketing strategy of selling the device direct-to-customers, presumably after the inaugural edition of its smartphone failed to work with the AT&T’s 3G networks.

In a bid to deal with this, the search company had reportedly filed an application with the US Federal Communications Commission for launching a 3G iteration of the device compatible with AT&T’s networks.

Incidentally, recent reports are suggesting that the Commission has already given a nod for such a version of the Google’s highly-talked about Nexus One.

The 3G version of the smart phone will soon be made available. In addition to this, reports are also doing rounds that a Verizon edition of the Google phone is expected to hit the shelves by spring this year.

AT&T officials said that the company’s WiFi service has made a record 85.5 million connections to the Internet in 2009 by its customers, using the company’s Wi-fi network.

The Nations largest and most advanced mobile broadband experience that is on offer by AT&T is expected to have further upsurge as more and more customer would utilize the Wi-fi on integrated devices because of its simplicity, reliability and for its convenience.

According to a press release by AT&T, it is being reported that its customers made a record 35.3 million which is up to 10 million connections from the third quarter of 2009. Already the fourth quarter connections excelled the total number of connections made in the first half of 2009.

Angie Wiskocil, senior vice president, AT&T Wi-Fi Services said, “Last year was a landmark year for AT&T Wi-Fi, and it shows in the tremendous response and usage we’ve seen from our customers and the leading venues we work with.”

He added further, “The record growth has been driven by our commitment to provide reliable connectivity solutions, the choice and simplicity of convenient locations, an unmatched portfolio of Wi-Fi enabled devices and plans, and strong venue support. We look forward to accelerating that growth even further in 2010 and beyond.”

According to reports emerging recently, the much anticipated new HTC Bravo phone is about to be launched by T Mobile into its stores in the UK.

The high-end Android smartphone, is similar in many ways to the Google Nexus One. Pictures of the HTC Bravo have already appeared on the web.

Some of the features of the yet unreleased Bravo include a 3.7-inch WVGA AMOLED touch-screen display and a five-megapixel camera.

Along with that the handset is also configured with a 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, Wi-Fi, GPS and HSDPA – same as the configurations of the Nexus One.

However, unlike the latter, the Bravo boasts of multi-touch and a new optical trackpad, as against the traditional trackball setup.

Rumours have it that T Mobile is launching the smartphone in March, which would approximately be around the same time that the Xperia X10 and the LG InTouch Max GW620 is unveiled.

T Mobile is the world’s seventh-largest mobile phone service provider in terms of subscriptions. Currently operating in ten European countries and the US, T Mobile is quite widely flourishing.

Google have finally entered the hardware market with the launch of its very own mobile handset, Nexus One. Launched last Tuesday, Nexus One is made to the specifications of Google by HTC, a giant in mobile handset manufacturer from Taiwan, which also runs the latest version of Android software of Google.

With the release of Nexus One, presently limited to only T-mobile and AT&T, there has been a head-to-head competition between Google and Apple in the mobile industry. The very plus point of Google was the mainstream news media that made as much hype as they could.

Rory Cellan-Jones, ,the technology correspondent of the BBC was dispatched to Google’s HQ, where he put up a question while taking interviews that if Google had thought that Nexus One mobile would provide contest for iPhone Apple. The spokesman of Google waffled, but needn’t have bothered. In fact it is the truth that in most respects Apple product is superior to the Google phone.

Wait…

This does not mean that Nexus One does not have some nice features. It has a powerful processor chip, which has the ability to run multiple applications at a single time. The handset has a nice screen having higher resolution than the iPhone and it has a turn-by-turn navigation (including Street View so that one can reach their destination easily). The voice recognition software of this Google phone works 90% of the time. There are many more powerful features to allow you depart with your money.
